Holy Hunger In The Midst Of Plenty (Documentary)

My first documentary film about Muslim students practicing Ramadan in the United States and trying to avoid all the temptations around. Jamie Murdick and Stjepan Alaupovic, my ASU classmates and co-producers of the film, were the biggest support in completing this project.

Dear Noori: Thanks for sending this. I thought it was perfectly
pitched towards the intended audience, which I assume is college
students. A very human look at a beautiful religious tradition. It
has
inspired me to fast for at least one day next year. -Pat

Zabi jan salam,
I watched the documentary. I will say that you have done a great job. it was so informative and impressive. You know, it is so persuasive and it really attracts people to observe fasting even non muslims. Again, it was really a wonderful vedio. Good luck with the next ones as well. You have the potential so continue with such wonderful pieces and I pray to Allah to give you the strength.

Good Luck

I just now saw your documentary and must tell you how impressed I am with it. I will be sharing it with many people and will show it in both my classes. I'm always looking for good ways to make "other" cultures come alive to students and this is a marvelous contribution. Congratulations! You clearly have a lot of talent and a lot to say. I wish you all the best in developing that talent.

Very interesting, Noori. Your videos keep getting better and better!

I didn’t know about lowering your gaze and getting involved with the community during Ramadan.

Amazingly well-done. Holds the viewer's attention steadfastly from the beginning till the end. Informative, and doses of subtle humor makes it interesting. Good camera work, well-chosen background music, meaningful interviews. I'd have liked it if some more people (observing Ramadan) were interviewed, but that's just a viewpoint. A great job indeed, Noori, and I cannot wait to see your forthcoming projects.

This is probably the best documentary to come out of the Walter Cronkite School. Amazing filmmakers.
